X+z=6 5y+9z=1 what is a possible way to eliminate the y term

Assuming that these two equations aren't being multiplied:

solve the second equation for y

5y+9z=1   5y=1-9z    y=(1-9z)/5

substitute y for 0

0=(1-9z)/5

5=1-9z
We could leave it like this, but I'm not going to because it feels so unfinished.
5-1=-9z
4=-9z
-4/9=z

x+z=6

x-(4/9)=6
x=6+(4/9)
x=58/9

Geometry 8.6.3 - Equations of Parallel and Perpendicular Lines and Proofs
Pepsi [2]

Option B: \frac{1}{25}

<u>Solution:</u>

<u>Slope of the perpendicular lines:</u>

If two lines are perpendicular then their slopes are negative reciprocals of each other.

$m_1=\frac{-1}{ m_2}

<u>Slope of the parallel lines:</u>

If two lines are parallel then they have the same slope.

i.e their slopes are equal.

m_1=m_2

Given line m and p are parallel.

Slope of the line m = \frac{1}{25}

Using slope of the parallel lines definition,

Slope of the line p = slope of the line m

Slope of the line p = \frac{1}{25}

Option B is the correct aswer.

Hence the slope of the of line p is \frac{1}{25}.

If a tapestry is 5/8 yards long and 3/10 yards high. What is the area of the tapestry?
Evgesh-ka [11]

<u>Area of Tapestry is  0.1875 yards² .</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

Dimensions of Tapestry

Length = 5/8 yards

Height/ Breadth = 3/10 yards

Area of Tapestry = L × B

  ⇒ 5/8 ×  3/10

  ⇒ 15/80

 ⇒ 0.1875 yards²

<u>Area of Tapestry is  0.1875 yards² .</u>

A multiple choice test has four possible answers for each question. Let X be the number of correct responses in a test of 100 qu
dimulka [17.4K]

Answer:

a. 4.33.

Step-by-step explanation:

If there is only one correct answer out of four alternatives, the expected proportion of correct answers is p =0.25

Sample size (n) = 100 questions

The standard deviation of a proportion 'p' is given by:

s=\sqrt{\frac{p*(1-p)}{n} }

Applying the given data:

s=\sqrt{\frac{0.25*(1-0.25)}{100}}\\s=0.0433

If X is the number of correct responses in 100 guesses, the standard deviation of X is:

\sigma = n*s=100*0.0433\\\sigma = 4.33

The standard deviation of X is 4.33 questions.
