Sam Adams helped to start what is known as Committees of correspondence. These were emergency governments organized to help with the communication between the different colonies, in the eve of the Revolution against the British crown.

Committees of correspondence were formed along the  cities and regions pf the 13 colonies.The first of these intercolonial form of government was founded in the city of Boston in 1772.

This group's pourpose was to transmit information from city to city and from the cities to the rural areas where most of the colonists lived. They communicated by letters carried on horsebacks or ships and the information transmited was essential to the revolutionary events to come. Many of the messagers were members of  the <em>Colonial Legislative Assemblies, Sons of Liberty </em>and even the<em> Stamp Act Congress.</em>
