United States--the US is one of the top coal producing countries in the world.

The US produces and uses coal as an energy source and therefore would have a need for regulation. Though coal has taken a hit in the US it still have coal fields being mined and many electric plants still use "clean coal" as its energy source.

Summarize some of the new technology that helped change life in the west.
timama [110]

Answer: Yes! Industrial revolution!

Okie, so, Some new technology that helped change life in the West includes:

  • rail roads
  • steam power
  • sewing machine
  • telegraph

There's so much more than that, but those are the main ones.

Explanation:

Railroads made it much easier to transport more goods long distances in a relatively short amount of time.

Steam power made it possible for more factories to be powered, as well as exist. It also lead to inventions such as the steam boats and steam train.

Sewing machines made life on the plains easier. sewing clothes by hand took a loooooong freaking time, but with the sewing machine people (mostly women... only women?) could sew many clothes in the time it took to sew one by hand.

The telegraph enabled quick communication over long distances. It also helped America feel more connected. If something big happened in New York, it would normally take months for the news to reach, say California, but with the telegraph, people could receive news right after, or even while it was happening.

9. What led to conflict in the Congo Free State?
Tasya [4]

Answer:

Africans were forced into brutal labor by Belgian rulers to collect rubber, leading to millions of deaths

Explanation:

Under the rule of Belgium, with King Leopold II as its head, the Congo Free State, roughly on the territory of modern day DR Congo, had suffered immensely. Initially, the colony was not barely sustainable, always being on the verge of bankruptcy, but that all changed with the sudden big demand fro rubber. The Congo Basin had loads of it, and the Belgians intended to use that to make profit. The native population was quickly mobilized and was forced to brutal labor force, being constantly tortured, mutilated, beaten up, given only so much food so that they can barely survive to work the next day. This, combined with other factors, led to lot of deaths, the numbers vary anywhere from one to fifteen million deaths. Understandably, the native people rebelled against this, and it turned out to be a long and bloody conflict, where the end result was just more deaths.
