Some of the unions also encouraged people to have access to education. In fact, the first non-religious education schools in the Middle Ages were supported and created by guilds.

Therefore, the guilds began with the main objective of protecting artisans and merchants against the feud and excessive taxes, however, these guilds also worked for the protection and profits of common consumers and also helped to develop the living conditions in the medieval period.
