What is the importance of understanding the psychological factors of voting behavior?
IRISSAK [1]
Democracy requires people to participate, it encourages people to participate. Even if a representative democracy may feel distant, the reality is that voters are more likely to see their petitions and interests protected than non voter. Yet, many people don’t vote. Understanding the reasons why people don’t vote, or why they chose a certain candidate over another, reveals issues in our society that may not be obvious. There was no fire safety procedures set and no easy ways to get out so people got stuck and were not able to escape when the massive fire burnt the building. Examples, the doors opened towards them so they had to pull them to get out, they had a scraps bin which was easy to catch on fire and there was no emergency exits or fire escape exits.
