Color blindness occurs when an individual is unable or has diminished ability to see certain colors. Red‑green color blindness i

s an X‑linked recessive trait, and whether or not an individual is red-green color blind is influenced by three different alleles. XC codes for normal vision and is dominant to Xcp and Xcd. Xcp is the protan type, which produces insensitivity to red light. Xcd is the deutan type, which produces insensitivity to green light. However, heterozygous recessive individuals, who have the genotype XcpXcd, have normal vision. In a hypothetical scenario, a scientist evaluates 5000 males and 5000 females. Of the males, 4601 had normal vision, whereas 399 were red‑green color blind. Of the females, 4981 had normal vision, whereas 19 were red‑green color blind. When analyzed further, it was determined that 2 of the color blind females had the genotype XcpXcp, and 17 of the color blind females had the genotype XcdXcd. What is the genotype frequency of males with deutan‑type color blindness

Answer:

The correct answer is 0.07.

Explanation:

It is given that 399 males are color-blind, while 19 females are color blind of the total population of 5000 males and 5000 females.

Of these color-blind females, 17 of them are deutan type and 2 are protan type, that is, 17/19 = 0.8947 or 89.5 percent individuals are deutan type color blind.

Let us assume the same ratio to be followed in the case of males, therefore:

0.895 * 399 = 357

Thus, 357 of the total color blind males will be deutan type color blind. Therefore, the genotype frequency for the deutan type color blindness is 357 / 5000 = 0.07.

A scientist was studying bones from an individual who died thousands of years ago. Which portion of the bones was the scientist
ludmilkaskok [199]

Answer: Minerals

Explanation: The body decomposes and after about 40 to 50 years bones are mostly brittle and dry with no traces of flesh. After thousands of years bones also disintegrate (decay) leaving brittle mineral frame. The life of bones is determined by the soil type its buried in, nuetral soils takes longer then acidic soil condition.

In this case osteocytes(bone cells) are the first to decompose followed by the cartilage and bone marrow, leaving behind mineral traces that scientist can study after thousand years.

A biologist trying to determine the mechanism of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production in a newly discovered bacterium provide
natka813 [3]

Answer: Option C

Explanation:

After the discovery of the new bacterial strain, they were feed on different types of substrates in order to see where they produce ATP using the given substrate or not.

In order to see this, the bacteria were feed on the amino acid as a substrate. The bacterial strain will produce rotting flesh smell when they use amino acid as a substrate.

This is due to the formation of the product named cadaverine which smells bad.
