<span>The industrial unions established in the late 19th and early 20th centuries took a radical stance towards economic and social reforms, where as the older unions felt differently. The newer unions also represented people of a variety of trades and even minorities. Since newer unions were more inclusive and promoted radical stances on economic and social reforms, competition among older and newer unions grew and created tension.</span>
Vassals
<span>A vassal refers to a person who was permitted to
acquire land on the grounds that he offered allegiance and homage to the nobles
of society in return. Nobles granted the use of
farmlands to vassals in exchange for vassals’ services such as political
support, serving as military soldiers and paying taxes. </span>
