We need it for maintain our body balance because if you remove one part of that tripod, you lose balance.  Removing the toe would make running, walking and skipping nearly impossible.  Toe walking can be caused by a disorder of movement

Not really, although it may be bigger, it doesn't mean that you cant walk without it. Some people have lost their big toe and walk perfectly fine.
