Answer:

the first option

Step-by-step explanation:

Because if you look at the colors and you reflect it over the line you can see the orange should be clostest to the line, and the blue sould still be at the top.

Option B is wrong because you would just be picking up the trangle and moving it over the line

Option C is wrong because that is rotating it, it is asking you to reflect the image.

A monument casts a 40 ft shadow. Adam is 6 ft tall and casts a 5 foot shadow. How tall is the monument
OLga [1]
The answer is 48 feet (D).

Explanation:

To solve this, you must think of the monument and its shadow and Adam and his shadow as a triangle, the person/object being the vertical leg, the shadows being the horizontal leg, and a line connecting them being the hypotenuse.  Also, we can assume that these triangles are similar.  First, we can set the scale to be 40/5 (the two shadows set a scale because the triangles are similar).  Then, we can put x/6 (the actual things are similar, and the scale was established to be building/measurement).  Next, we can set the two fractions equal to each other (40/5 = x/6) and solve.  We can cross multiply to get 5x = 40 * 6.  That goes to  5x = 240.  Finally, we can divide by five on each side to get x = 48 feet (D).

Help I don’t know how to do this please help
igor_vitrenko [27]

SOLUTION:

Case: Trigonometry

Method:

Let the distance between the Sun and the Earth be 'z'

The relationship between x, y and z is:

\begin{gathered} tan(x)=\frac{opp}{adj} \\ tan(x)=\frac{y}{z} \\ z=\frac{y}{tan(x)} \\ z=ycot(x) \end{gathered}

Final answer:

In sentence,

The distance between the Sun and the Earth is the product of the distance between the Earth and the moon and the cotangent of the angle x formed using the lines from the Earth and the moon.

Please help me with these 2 problems
blsea [12.9K]
Hello!

Elimination is where you add or subtract two equations to get rid of a variable

(5x + 5y = -5) + (5x - 5y = 25)

This gives us 10x = 20

Divide 10 from both sides

x = 2

We can put x in to one of the original equations to get y

5(2) + 5y = -5

Combine like terms

10 + 5y = -5

Subtract 10 from both sides

5y = -15

divide both sides by 5

y = -3

The answer to the first one is (2, -3)

For the second one we can subtract the equations

(2x - 3y = 0) - 2x + y = 8

This gives us 4y = 8

Divide by 4 on both sides

y = 2

We can put y into one of the original equations to get x

2x + 2 = 8

subtact 2 from both sides

2x = 6

Divide both sides by 2

x = 3

The answer to the second one is (3,2)

Hope this helps!
