Jack and George meet in the middle of a lake while paddling in their canoes. They come to a complete stop and talk for a while.

When they are ready to leave, Jack pushes George's canoe with a force F to separate the two canoes. What is correct to say about the final momentum and kinetic energy of the system if we can neglect any resistance due to the water?

Answer:

momentum =0

kinetic energy >0, positive

Explanation:

The final momentum is zero but the final kinetic energy is positive. The momentum is zero because momentum is the sum of the mass×velocity for each component. momentum is conserved

The KE is positive because KE is the sum of the 1/2×mass×velocity^2.

Whereas velocity can be positive and negative since it is (it's what makes the momentum zero because on is positive and one is negative), the velocity squared will always be positive.

Adding together two positives will always be a positive number.

Describe how the doppler effect explains why a siren has a lower pitch as a fire engine moves away from you. How does the freque
Elena L [17]
The Doppler effect is the change in sound or light that occurs whenever there is motion between the source and its observer. The siren of the fire engine has a lower pitch as it moves away because the waves are now spread out causing a lower frequency and a lower pitch. High-frequency sound waves have a higher pitch and higher energy than low-frequency waves.

A student is at rest on a stool that may freely spin about its central axis of rotation. As the stool spins, the student holds o
steposvetlana [31]

Answer:

the final speed of the stool is 3.6 rad/s

Explanation:

As we know that there is no external torque on the system

So we can use concept of angular momentum conservation

So we will have

I_1\omega_1 = I_2\omega_2

now we will have

6\times 1.2 = 2\times \omega

\omega = \frac{6 \times 1.2}{2}

\omega = 3.6 rad/s

So the final speed of the stool is 3.6 rad/s

The FitnessGram Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible.
