You're very close. The answers you've selected are correct, but there's one third series that's also alternating. Choice C is also an answer due to the (-1)^n term.

Any alternating series is in the form \displaystyle \sum (-1)^n*a_n or \displaystyle \sum (-1)^{n+1}*a_n where a_n is any sequence.

Choice E comes close, but the 2n being the exponent means that we don't have alternating signs (positive, negative, positive negative, etc). Why is this? Well notice how 2n is even regardless of what integer n we pick. Raising any negative number to an even power results in a positive value.

Eg: (-7)^2 = 49 and (-3)^4 = 81

This means that all of the terms of sequence E are going to be positive. The terms do not bounce back and forth between positive and negative.

Put another way, (-1)^{2n} = \left((-1)^2\right)^n = 1^n = 1

So \displaystyle \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} (-1)^{2n}\frac{1}{n+3} = \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} \frac{1}{n+3}

And it's why choice E is not one of the answers.

<h3>To summarize:</h3><h3>The 3 answers are A, C, and D</h3>

Answer:

5/12

Step-by-step explanation:

The probability of rolling a number greater than 1 is 5/6, because 5 numbers on a 6-sided dice are greater than 1.

The probability of rolling an even number is 3/6, because 3 numbers on a 6-sided dice are even numbers.

5/6 \times 3/6

=15/36

=5/12

In a group of 65 students when you have brown eyes and 30 have blue eyes. Find the Probability that a student pick from this gro
Gemiola [76]

Answer:

The probability that a student pick from this group at random either has blue or brown eyes is

P = 40/65 = 0.6154

P = 61.54%

Corrected question;

In a group of 65 students 10 have brown eyes and 30 have blue eyes. Find the Probability that a student pick from this group at random either has blue or brown eyes

Step-by-step explanation:

Given;

Total number of students = 65

Number of students with either blue or brown eyes;

= 10+30 = 40

The probability that a student pick from this group at random either has blue or brown eyes is

P = 40/65 = 0.6154

P = 61.54%
