Subtract 12 from both sides
-2(5x+16)=50-12

Simplify 50-12 to 38
-2(5x+16)=38

Divide both sides by -2
5x+16=-38/2

Simplify 38/2 to 19
5x+16=-19

Subtract 16 from both sides
5x=-19-16

Simplify-19-16 to -35
5x=-35

Divide both sides by 5
x=-35/5

Simplify 35/5 to 7
x=-7

Hope this helps! :)
