Air mass can be described as the volume of air present and the temperature of that mass of air.
Polar air masses are cold. They have less moisture content. The temperature of Maritime Polar air mass ranges from above freezing to below 70 degrees F.
Tropical air masses can be described as air masses that are warm and have a high moisture content. Temperature ranges between 70 degrees F to 90 degrees F.
Polar masses - it appears in the poles, north or south, being classified in Continental Poles (low temperature and low humidity) since they act in the polar continental areas; and Maritime Poles (low temperature and high humidity) from sub-polar and arctic ocean areas., always at latitudes above 50 ° and for these aspects, they are extremely cold. The continental polar is colder and drier; oceanic is more humid.
Tropical masses - their regions of origin are in the areas close to the tropics of Capricorn and Cancer, between latitudes 25 ° and 30 ° both in the northern hemisphere and in the southern hemisphere. They are very moist air masses, however, if formed in continental areas, they are usually dry. They appear in tropical areas of the globe and are classified as Tropical Continental (high temperature and low humidity) and Tropical Maritime (milder temperature and high humidity).
It becomes inactive in the stomach because of the stomach having a MUCH greater PH level then the mouth. It is typically 1.0-2.0 in the Stomach which is extremely acidic which causes it to change shape and therefore inactive.
