Answer:

The length of the track is 247 m.

The area enclosed by the track is  5391 . 76 sq m.

Step-by-step explanation:

The length of the rectangle  = 88 m

The width of the rectangle  =  44 m

Now, as we know the semicircles are at the end of rectangular track.

So, the diameter of semicircles = Width of the rectangle

⇒ The diameter of the semi circle  = 44 m

⇒Radius of the semi circle  = 44/2 = 22 m

TOTAL LENGTH OF TRACK

= 2 ( Length of rectangle)  + 2 (Circumference of 1 semicircle)

= 2 x (88 m)  + 2 (\frac{2\pi r}{2})

= 176 m + 2 (3.14)(22 m)  = 176 + 71.08 =  247 m

Hence, the length of the track is 247 m

TOTAL AREA OF TRACK

= (Area of rectangle)  + 2 (Area of 1 semicircle)

= (Length x Width)  +    2 (\frac{\pi r^2}{2})

=  (44  m x 88 m) +  (3.14)(22 m)(22 m)   = (3872  + 1519.76) sq m

=  5391 . 76 sq m

Hence, the area enclosed by the track is  5391 . 76 sq m.

This table shows the value, v, of a car based on its age, a, assuming normal usage.
Lorico [155]

Answer:

  a. U(a) = 20000·0.9^a

  b. about -$957 dollars per year

  c. 13 years

Step-by-step explanation:

a) The age values are sequential, but the differences between "v" values are not constant. We suspect an exponential function. When we examine the ratios of adjacent table values, we find they are all 0.9, so the exponential function will be ...

  U = (initial value)·(0.9^(age))

  U(a) = 20000·0.9^a

__

b) The average rate of change for the one year between age 7 and age 8 will be U(8) -U(7). A calculator evaluates that difference as -$956.59, about -$957.

__

c) The car value drops by almost half in 6 years, so will drop by almost half of that in another 6 years. The car's age will be 12 or 13 years. A graph shows the age to be just over 13 years when the value is predicted to be $5000.

_____

A graphing calculator was used to evaluate the function and find the time associated with the given value. (See attached.) This is the "work" that was done to answer the questions.

The time to decrease to 1/4 of the original value can be found by solving ...

  5000 = 25000·0.9^a

The solution is ...

  a = log(.25)/log(0.9) ≈ 13.158 . . . . as found on the graph

A printing company uses the formula C=0.5x+10 to find the cost of printing x business cards which equation correctly solves the
Misha Larkins [42]
C=0.5x + 10

Where:
C = total cost of printing
x = number of business cards printed
0.5 = variable cost of printing, this cost depends on the number of business card
10 = fixed cost of printing, this cost stays the same regardless of the number of business card printed.

C = 0.5x + 10  ; derive the formula of x.

C - 10 = 0.5x

(C - 10)/0.5 = x
