Your answers are correct. Q3 Is > and Q4 is <

Both answers are correct. -5 > -8 and -6 < |-8|.

I think you might have been worried about the -8 in the second problem. This | | is an absolute value sign. It basically turns any negative number positive. So this would actually be -6 < 8 .

A box is 12 in, high, 24 in. long, and 8 in. wide. What is the longest poster you could fit in
never [62]

Answer:

If you put the posters in the box diagonally from bottom corner to the top corner.  It will fit a poster 26 in long.

x = SqRoot (24^2 + 12^2)= 26.83 in

One one will fit because it has to go right into each of the corners to fit in the box.

In the coordinate plane, what is the length of the line segment that connects points at (5, 4) and (−3, −1) ?
denis-greek [22]
Hi, it is simple

Use the formula:

Let A = (5,4) and B = (-3,-1)

Where,

A = (xa, ya) and B = (xb , yb)

Then,

d(A, B) = √(xb -xa)^2 +(yb-ya)^2

Replacing it:

d(A, B) = √(-3-5)^2+(-1-4)^2

= √(-8)^2+(-5)^2

= √(64+25)

= √(89)

As the question does not specify the unit of measure.

d(A, B) = √(89) u.m

Unit of measure

Hope this helps!
