Answer:

Yes.

Explanation:

If the organism has backbone then it implies that it is a vertebrate. Being chordate doesn't mean the organism must have the notochord throughout the life. If an organism has a notochord in early embryonic stages but later on it disappears with due course of time and development then also the organism can be categorized into chordates. Not only this but also, presence of backbone indicates that the organism is a vertebrate for sure. Also, all vertebrates are chordates but all chordates are not vertebrates. It simply means that an organism can be both a chordate as well as vertebrate but being a chordate doesn't guarantee that it is a vertebrate because all chordates do not have backbone/vertebral column.

Investigating how temperature affects decay

Answer:

How does temperature affect decay?

Temperature. amount of water. Bacteria and fungi secrete enzymes onto food to digest it into soluble substances which they absorb. They respire using oxygen and release heat energy which increases the rate of decay.

How would removing hydroxyapatite from bone matrix affect the physical properties of a bone? A) The bone would be less flexible.
svlad2 [7]

Answer:  The correct answer is :  D) The bone would be more flexible.

Explanation:  The calcium in the bone matrix is found in crystals called hydroxyapatite, which is exactly a biological material formed by calcium phosphate, which represents a 99% deposit of body calcium. Hydroxyapatite is the inorganic portion of the bone matrix.

That the allele that gives human red blood cells increased resistance to malarial parasites also reduces the amount of oxygen th
ella [17]

Answer:

A (Genotype)

Explanation:

All organisms possess genetic material which contains information required for certain functions/traits. This genetic material is stored as DNA and contains certain segment that encodes functional products (proteins) called GENE. The make-up of the genes responsible for a particular characteristics in an organism is called the GENOTYPE. Genes occur in variant forms called ALLELES, which are inherited from each parent.

These alleles are responsible for the varying expression of a particular trait e.g. allele T can be responsible for Tallness while the variant form, allele t can be responsible for shortness. In this example, we can see that height is the trait here but the different alleles encode varying expression of it. The combination of the alleles received by both parents, which collectively determines the trait to be expressed is the GENOTYPE.

N.B: The genotype refers to the physically invisible genes not the expressed trait itself, which is the phenotype.

In this case, an allele (gene variant) is responsible for the resistance of Red Blood cells and regulates oxygen carried by them. The phenotype is the resistance that the RBC's possess and its reduced ability to carry oxygen but the combination of alleles responsible for that trait is the GENOTYPE.

Are humans evolving? I just wanna know your opinions on this subject.
Jlenok [28]

Answer:

I would say maybe.

Explanation:

It literally depends on the environments and their surrounding. Also, it can genetic mutations. For example, my friend has greenish hazel eyes while her parents/grandparents don't (btw she's fully asian). This can be due to the environment surrounding her or the cause of genetic mutation. I do feel like genetic mutations are the ones causing us to evolve.

To explain furthermore, the environment can trigger or cause humans to evolve.  For example, we all started in Africa, but do you ever wonder how white people became white people? Well, it's because of the cold climate around them. The Africans moved to Europe and stayed there for more than 100 years, and because of that their eyes, skin, lips became lighters.

Lastly, if you have not adapted to the environment around you, there's a good chance mutation and evolving will come along to help humans survive.
