The one that became a challenge that jimmy carter faced as a president was: Energy Crisis
Because of the intervention from Jimmy Carter in the Middle East, The UEA boycotted the supply of oil and gas to the United states.
This greatly reduced the amount of Oil and Gas available to use by the citizen, which led to the Energy crisis

What role did the UN play in this crisis? Did UN involvement seem to help or hurt the situation?
Alex777 [14]

If you are talking about the 1990s, the U.N. was not able to help much.  In Rwanda, it stood by as the ethnic cleansing ran wild and many died as a result. In Bosnia, many U,N. peacekeepers were either held hostage or shot by militias.  It was the intervention of the French in Rwanda and Americans in Bosnia that turned things around.
