The role of women during the colonial period was very restricted. The dominant idea was that they were inferior to men and had to obey their authority. Nothing much, besides the religious life and the household duties, were left to women. As expected, colonial girls followed their mothers duties. They learned responsibilities as housekeeping, food preservation, knitting and often help their mothers create household goods like clothing, candles, and soap that could be traded, letter B.
