Answer:

Spread democracy--along with ideas of manifest destiny and "city upon a hill", the US believed they were the model for democracy.

By becoming imperial powers they could train others to be democratic. They needed military and trade ports in the Pacific--with more trade occurring with China and Japan the US needed naval ports along the way to support US shipping.

To also support the shipments, a strong navy was needed to protect the ships. Gain global power--European countries were proving to be a modern world power, a country needed to acquire colonies. US imperialism would allow the US to become a modern, industrial power.

How does the cuban missile crisis show that ""cooler heads prevailed?
Pavlova-9 [17]

The Cuban missile crisis proves that the ' cooler heads prevailed' as the conflict did not escalate.

Explanation:

The Cuban missile crisis was the closest that the world ever got to a full blown world war with nuclear weapons and it was the heads that were cool and composed during these times of frenzy that saved the two nations.

By the end of the crisis it was understood that both sides did not want the conflict and would rely on the doctrine of mutually assured destruction to not escalate future conflicts.

Thus the end shows that in fact cooler heads prevailed in this time.
