Even though Rylee makes lots of mistakes in algebra, he is not likely to experience mental set in his problem solving. In addition, a mental set is a predisposition to only perceive solutions that have controlled in the preceding. This kind of fixed intellectual can make it hard to come up with solutions and can slow down the problem solving process.
