Extreme heat applied to a colony of microorganisms causes the size P of the colony, measured in grams, to decrease according to
ruslelena [56]

Step-by-step explanation:

dP/dt = -0.4P

Separate the variables and integrate.

dP/P = -0.4 dt

ln|P| = -0.4t + C

P = Ce^(-0.4t)

Use initial condition to find C.

2 = C^(0)

C = 2

P = 2e^(-0.4t)

dQ/dt = -1

Integrate.

Q = -t + C

Use initial condition to find C.

3 = 0 + C

C = 3

Q = -t + 3

Set the two equal.

2e(-0.4t) = -t + 3

Use a calculator to find t.

t = 2.156

The populations have the same size after 2.156 hours.

Find the area of the given figure.<br> show your work please!
ICE Princess25 [194]

Answer:

30.3m^2

Step-by-step explanation:

I started off by finding the area of the semi circle. The formula πr^2 divided by 2. The radius of the circle is 2 because it is half of the diameter which is 4. So π(2)^2 divided by 2 is 6.3.

Next I broke apart the the shape into a rectangle and a triangle for simplicity sake.  So doing this I had to know where to cut and if you look at the top of the figure it shows 2m for the length at the top. So I put a vertical line there. Thus changing the 10m on the bottom to a 8m section and a 2m section. So the rectangle's area will be the length times the height which is 2x4=8.

The triangle's area can be found with the equation BH/2 and we the 8 base we found and a height of 4 it is 8x4/2. Which ends up as 16.

Finally you add up all three area's that you found 8+16+6.3=30.3

George is building a fence around a rectangular dog run. He is using his house as one side of the run. The area of the dog run w
pav-90 [236]

Answer:

width is 30-22 = 8 feet

George would need 76 feet of fencing for the dog run

Step-by-step explanation:

30 x (30-x) = 240

30-x = 8

-x = -22

x = 22

Therefore width is 30-22 = 8 feet

8+8+30+30 = 76

Thus, George would need 76 feet of fencing for the dog run
