Read Edward Corsi's quotation from the book Immigrant Kids by Russell Freedman. Edward Corsi, who later became United States Com

missioner of Immigration, was a ten-year-old Italian immigrant when he sailed into New York harbor in 1907: My mother, my stepfather, my brother Giuseppe, and my two sisters, Liberta and Helvetia, all of us together, happy that we had come through the storm safely, clustered on the foredeck for fear of separation and looked with wonder on this miraculous land of our dreams. How does this quotation add credibility to Freedman's statement that the immigrants believed that in America life would be better? It comes from a mother who clustered with her children on a boat. It comes from a writer who authored books about the American dream. It comes from an immigrant who called America the land of his dreams. It comes from a teacher who studied immigrants in American history.

Answer:

This quotation adds credibility to Freedman's statement that the immigrants believed life in America would be better because:

C. It comes from an immigrant who called America the land of his dreams.

Explanation:

The quotation we are analyzing here serves to support Freedman's statement, giving it trustworthiness. According to Freedman, immigrants saw America as the place for a fresh start, where life could be better than before, than it was where they came from. What better way to support that statement than by quoting an immigrant? Edward Corsi's quotation confirms Freedman's statement. He and his family, upon arriving in New York in 1907, where excited about this "miraculous land of our dreams."

Answer:

The author writes that the ordeal of the voyage was worth it. He develops this idea by including a quotation that tells what the voyage was like and how immigrants felt about arriving to the US. The quotation gives credibility to the author's idea and makes the text stronger because it is from an immigrant who had firsthand experience making the voyage and arriving in the states.

Q1- In addition to her role as an agricultural goddess, Demeter was often worshiped more generally as a goddess of the earth
Q2- Demophon, in Greek mythology, the son of Celeus, king of Eleusis. According to the Homeric hymn to Demeter, the goddess Demeter, wandering in search of her daughter Persephone, became Demophon’s nurse. As an act of kindness to those who had sheltered her, she attempted to immortalize him by burning out his mortal parts but was surprised in the act by his mother, who thought that she was harming the boy. Incensed, Demeter quickly withdrew the child from the fire, thus leaving him susceptible to death. In another version, related by the mythographer Apollodorus, the surprise resulted in Demophon’s death in the flames. Shortly thereafter Demeter departed from Eleusis. A different Demophon, a son of Theseus, took part with his brother Acamas in the siege of Troy.

Q3- Zeus finally intervened because he noticed that Demeter was not granting a fertile harvest so he wanted the people to get their harvest so he made the plan to allow Persephone to let her see her mother sometimes. Many myths offer a story that explains why things in nature are as they are.

Fynjy0 [20]
The correct answer is D. The modernist era took place in the 1800 and 1900's, and authors were heavily influenced by events such as World War I and the Great Depression. These things gave many people pessimistic views on the world.
