First make sure they have the same denominator, in this problem the LCF is 10 so multiply 4/5 by 2 and 1/2 by 5
This gives us 8/10 and 5/10 now in order to make them equal we have to subtract 3/10 from the long one so it can also equal to 5/10

Jenny can swim 10 laps In 5 minutes. How many laps should she swim in 1/3 of an hour?
DIA [1.3K]

1/3 of an hour is 20 minutes. If show 10 laps in 5 minutes, just divide 20 by 5, which gives you 4, then multiply 4 times 10. She can swim 40 laps in 1/3 of an hour. Hope that helps. Mark Brainliest if it does. Thank you!

Write the equation of the line that passes through the points (-6,1) and (-2,5). Put your answer in fully reduced point-slope fo
irinina [24]
  • (-6,1)
  • (-2,5)

Slope:-

\\ \sf\longmapsto m=\dfrac{5-1}{-2+6}=\dfrac{4}{4}=1

Point-Slope form

\\ \sf\longmapsto y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

\\ \sf\longmapsto y-1=1(x+6)

\\ \sf\longmapsto y-1=x+6

\\ \sf\longmapsto x-y+7=0

How do you complete the square to rewrite y= x^ -6x + 15 in vertex form
Vaselesa [24]
Vertex form of a quadratic equation is y=a(x-h)^{2}+k
where (h, k) is the vertex.

Our aim is to write the expression y=x^{2} -6x+15 in the form
y=a(x-h)^{2}+k

y=x^{2} -6x+15

y=x^{2} -2*3*x+15

y=(x^{2} -2*3*x+ 3^{2})-3^{2}+ 15

y=(x-3)^{2}-9+15

y=(x-3)^{2}+6
