In today's culture, we are frequently bombarded with information, sales, limited offers and so on in such a way that we might rush to get those and we don't even know for sure why. We do things and forget their meaning.

The other part of the text talks about how people are always trying to save time, although they don't even do anything good with the time that they have. Nowadays, we have so much technology that helps us save time. Instant messaging, fast connections, easy ways to move from place to place, and yet, we don't seem to find anything good to be done with all the time saved as well. Many people might make a research on the internet much faster than they ever would in a library, but still, they spend the rest of their time looking at cute cats gifs instead of something more productive.
