It is also known as a cold war policy of US and its allies at the end of World War Two. This policy represented a middle position between rollback and detente. It was an outcome of Truman doctrine and was announced by President Harry S. Truman on March 12, 1947.  Later the Internal Security act of 1950 was passed into a federal law. President Truman had vetoed it but the <em>congress enacted it.</em>
