Chloroplasts are plastid which contains pigment called chlorophylls. Due to the presence of chlorophylls, chloroplasts synthesise glucose in presence of sunlight with the help of carbon dioxide and water.

Whereas, mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell because it produces energy from glucose which is synthesised during photosynthesis. The energy is through the process cellular respiration. In this process, glucose is oxidised completely in the presence of oxygen to produce carbon dioxide, water and energy in the form of ATP.

Thus, mitochondria and chloroplasts help plants to get their energy.
