The atlatl was indeed a tool used by the Native Americans, but it was not their invention, yet alone by their later tribes. The atlatl, according to the archaeological evidence, has a much longer history than the history of the people in the Americas. It is thought that it was a tool/weapon that was developed in the Paleolithic period, around 30,000 years ago, and this is nowhere the time when the ancestors of the Indians came to the Americas, yet alone that the later people derived from them to have invented it.

They were advocating gender equality. They believed that women should have equal rights as men and they wanted for women to have the right to vote and to own property and not be treated as if they belonged to their husbands. This was based on the fact that African-Americans won their fight for their rights so women should too.
