ou find some rather strange plants in your backyard. They consist only of thin, pale yellow stems that are wrapped around other

species of plants growing nearby. You experiment by unwrapping some of the strange yellow plants and planting half of them alone in pots of soil and half in pots with other plants from your yard. You water and fertilize both sets of pots, but after a few weeks you find that the yellow plants that were potted alone have died, while those potted with other plants are thriving. What term would you use to describe the strange yellow plants?

Answer:

Parasitic

Explanation:

The plants that are described are typical example of parasitic plants. These types of plants have a parasitic relationship with the other plants, at least with the ones that they can use. In order for them to grow, survive, and prosper, these plants need a host plant. They attach to the host plant's steam with their miniature claw like organs, and use them for support to grow upwards, but also to extract nutrients from the host plant. While this leads to to parasitic plant's survival and prospering, the host plant is suffering, and gradually the parasitic plant will suck every nutrient out of the host plant and kill it. Without a host plant, these plants would find it extremely hard to survive, and the chances are very high that they will die because they are not well suited to get nutrient on their own.

Why do dolphins kill more people every year than sharks?
Alik [6]

Answer:

Dolphins use their strong snouts as a powerful weapon to ram sharks, targeting their soft underbellies and gills to cause injuries. Sharks pose less of a threat to larger members of the dolphin family. Indeed, orcas are the top predator in the ocean and small sharks are a target for some populations.

What is the difference between inductive and deductive reasoning?
murzikaleks [220]
The main difference between inductive and deductive reasoning is that when we're doing inductive reasoning we're trying to create formal rules or formal inferences from a limited set of information, while during deductive reasoning, we're trying to deduce what would happen in a certain case based on general information available.
