The fall of Rome gave rise to Barbarian Kingdoms and initiated the beginning of the Middle Ages. Rome was the center of food, trade, and military of Europe. Being one of the largest Empires in the world at that time it was among the few kingdoms to have trade with military support. Its downfall shatters the prosperous trade system of Western Europe.

Further Explanations:

Fall of the Western Roman Empire or the fall of Rome was the proceeding of declination of the Western Roman Empire after failing to impose its rule in its vast territories. The territories got divided into several polities after the empire lost its strength and allowed its successors to exercise control over the Western Provinces. The lust for power instituted a civil war among the emperors of the Roman Kingdom that effected the strength of the Roman army. The war for power inside the Roman Empire also affected the economy and competence of the administration.

During this era of civil war invasion of the Barbarian along the Western part and their annexation to establish their empire in the western domain also acted as the boon for the further demise of the Roman Empire. Loss of military control and political unity can be seen as the reason for the invasion of Barbarians and the fall of Rome.
