When something says to 'rationalize the denominator,' when simplifying expressions with square roots, it is asking to get rid of any square roots in the denominator. This would put all of the square roots in the numerator, therefore only rational numbers would be in the denominator. We can rationalize the denominator by multiplying by the conjugate of the number in the denominator over itself (because that makes it a fraction equal to 1, and by multiplying by a fraction of 1, we don't change the value of the fraction).

A designer places 4 identical squares on a surface and spaces them 3 5/16 inches apart. Each square is 7 1/4 inches wide. If you
Anon25 [30]

Number of spaces would be number of squares - 1

You would have 12 squares and 11 spaces.

Multiply number of each by their size then add the two together:

12 x 7 1/4 = 87 inches

11 x 3 5/16 = 36 7/16 inches

Total = 87 + 36 7/16 = 123 7/16 inches

Answer: 123 7/16 inches

trevor tutors french for $15 and hour and scoops ice cream for $10 an hour. he is going to work 15 hours this week. at least how
yaroslaw [1]
Total number of hours = 15

Let the hours spent tutoring french be x.

Therefore hours spent on scooping ice cream = (15 - x)

Amount: Tutoring french is $15 an hour, total for x hours = 15x

For scooping ice cream it is $10 an hour 10*(15 - x) = 150 - 10x

To make more than $180

15x + (150 - 10x) > 180

15x + 150 - 10x > 180

15x - 10x > 180 - 150

5x > 30

x > 30/5

x > 6

So he needs to tutor more than 6 hours in order to make more than $180

Answer:

There's two of them, of which are the 3rd and 5th option

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for calculating a prism is length times width, times the height because it is a 3d object. Length times width is the same as B(base), so those two are the exact same. Don't let that fool you.

Here's a little abstract context:

You've got one loaf of bread right? Well, pretend it's 3 inches by 4 inches. You have one slice, one layer, with 12 inches squared as its area. To make it a loaf, you stack the layers up by multiplying that slice of bread by the value of h.
