How to solve -mk -120>95 for m

Mathematics

8 0

Isolate the m. First add 120 to both sides.

-m(k) - 120 (+120) > 95 (+120)

-m(k) > 215

Next, divide k from both sides

-m(k)/k > (215)/k

-m > 215/k

Finally, to completely isolate the m, divide by - 1 to both sides. Remember that when you divide by a negative number, you flip the sign.

-m/-1 > (215/k)/-1

m < (215/k)/-1 should be your answer

hope this helps

The second of 2 numbers is 5 more than twice the first. Their sum is 29. Find the numbers. (With steps)
hodyreva [135]
So the equation is x + 2x + 5= 29
Here are the steps            -5    -5
                               -----------------------
                                        3x   = 24
      Divide both sides by 3 so you get
                                          x = 8
Then look back at the question, the second number has to be twice that number plus 5
                 So the 1st number is 8 The second # is 2(8)+5= 21
