Actually, there was not much convincing to do. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella were eager to send an explorer to the "New World," with the hope he would find riches that could be claimed by Spain; also, the Queen was a fervent Catholic and she hoped the native populations could be converted.

How did abolitionists view slavery?
MAXImum [283]

Answer:

Abolitionists from the beginning of American independence saw slavery as a cruel practice on other human beings. They despised that Africans were taken from their native countries and forced to work in cruel conditions in plantations. This does NOT mean that abolitionists saw Africans as equal to them. In fact, the majority, including Africans themselves, believed that Africans could be most prosperous in Africa (there was later a project to bring African Americans to Liberia). They believed that it was impossible for 'white' and 'black' Americans to live peacefully in the same society.

What is the connection between the African oral storytelling and the preservation of African culture in the Americas?
Maslowich

Answer:

Explanation:

When African were brought to America during the infamous slave trade, all their connections with the African past were taken away. They did not have the right to pray to their gods, to use their names, nor even to speak their native languages.

Enslaved Africans in America told their stories and spoke about their motherland only through Storytelling. It was how questions were answered, how his history was transferred, and how life lessons were taught and learned. Storytelling was the means of preserving the connection with African culture in America.
