It was important because now that you could print there was more ideas in the world and it was helpful for teachers because they could now easily make worksheets instead of hand writing them themselves.

It was so because this opened new worlds of ideas such a a newspaper, books, or scripts. Now, this was all available at a much cheaper price and it didn't take such a long time and a lot of money to copy things by hand.
