The answer to your question would be that the correct relative pronoun to complete the sentence is the following one: Who. Moreover, the noun antecedent to which the pronoun refers is "artist". The sentence would be as follows: The modernistic sculpture in the shopping center was designed by an artist who had received training in Europe.

In this case, the relative clause used is an essential relative clause. A relative clause is essential when the information it provides is relevant to identify its antecedent. In the sentence above, the clause helps identify the artist; he is the one who had received training in Europe.

Give me the opposite of this sentence, "Children in the dark make mistakes."
Volgvan

No. "Children in the dark make mistakes" does not have the same meaning as "Mistakes in the dark make children." The first implies that without sufficient light, children would make mistakes, while the second implies that if you make mistakes in the dark, you'll have children.

The opposite of this sentence: "Children in the dark make mistakes", should be "Mistakes are made when Children are in a dark area".

hope this helps

Ede4ka [16]

President Kennedy makes intensive use of parallelism and antithesis for the sake of persuasion and to make his speech more appealing to the audience. Antithesis is a rhetorical device which is used to contrast two ideas or things in a parallel sentence. Parallel structure is a literary device which consist of a repetition of some pattern of words. These stylistic devices offer the reader a more pleasant speech as well as it makes the speech easy to understand the main idea of the thought.

Example: "Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate."
