A cultural region is a territory defined by the distinctiveness or structuring of the cultural features of the population permanently inhabiting it. This term is used to divide a given national territory into areas of ethnographic or regional groups, as well as to designate jointly the national territories of several peoples whose cultures have common features. A very common example of this concept is Latin America.

Geographers divide the territory of the planet into cultural regions because through this separation and distinction through cultural grouping, certain demographic and social variables can be analyzed, understanding them as a situation common to several territorial areas, and not as isolated situations of each region in particular.
