Answer:

C. many mosquitoes today are descendants of mosquitoes with insecticide-resistant characteristics

Explanation:

When insecticides were first sold, they where highly effective in killing mosquitoes but few mosquitoes will definitely survived. If these mosquitoes that survived mate together, they will produce hybrid offspring that possess characteristics that are insecticide-resistant. The more insecticide-resistant mosquitoes that breed together in subsequent generations, the more permanent mutant hybrid offspring will be produced which will eventually make them to become resistant to the use of insecticides over them.

alukav5142 [94]

The intermediate disturbance hypothesis predicts that species diversity will be highest when the frequency and/or intensity of disturbances are intermediate

Explanation:

The diversity of the species is maximised at an intermediate near of anthropogenic as well as natural disturbances. As the competitively inferior disturbances are being tolerated for species disturbance and are termed to be dominant. Co exist of the sensitive species when the disturbance are either frequent or rare, which possess the reduced level of the disturbances. the productivity is predicted as very less due to competitive exclusion. As the disturbances increases productivity becomes less as most of them unable to sustain the regular destructive occurrence. So with the intermediate disturbances productivity is high as the rapid colonizers and dominant competitors are able to coexist.

The state of Florida purchased farmland from landowners in the Everglades to stop farming activities there. The farmlands were o
Olenka [21]

Answer:

A. Populations of native wetlands plants will recolonize the land.

Explanation:

From many years' wetlands are converted into farmlands as they provide retention of soil, proper food and clean water, and the cycling of nutrients. But wetlands should not be permanently converted because it can increase the load on soil and add pollutants (pesticides or fertilizers) in the soil and groundwater.

If the farming stops and water flows on the land again, the native plants present in wetlands will help to recolonize the land which is disrupted by farming activities.

Hence, the correct option is A.

Describe neuroendocrine and metabolic aspects of endocrinology
geniusboy [140]

Answer:

Given the current environment in most developed countries, it is a challenge to maintain a good balance between calories consumed and calories burned, although maintenance of metabolic balance is key to good health. Therefore, understanding how metabolic regulation is achieved and how the dysregulation of metabolism affects health is an area of intense research. Most studies are focused on the hypothalamus, which is a brain area that acts as a key regulator of metabolism. Among the nuclei that comprise the hypothalamus, the arcuate nucleus is one of the major mediators in the regulation of food intake. The regulation of energy balance is also a key factor to ensure the maintenance of any species because of the dependence of reproduction on energy stores. Adequate levels of energy reserves are necessary for proper functioning of the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis. This review discusses valuable data presented in the 2015 edition of the International Workshop of Neuroendocrinology concerning the fundamental nature of the hormonal regulation of the hypothalamus and the impact on energy balance and reproduction.
