In June 1930, Smoot-Hawley raised already high U.S. tariffs on foreign agricultural imports. The purpose was to support U.S. farmers who had been ravaged by the Depression. Instead, it raised food prices. It also compelled other countries to retaliate with their own tariffs. (Hopefully that helps)!

Why did more nationalist movements rise after<br> World War II?
nlexa [21]
During wwii, for the most part, everyone was united. we were all fighting for one cause. after wwii, america has sealed its fate as a global presence. we took on a leadership role of sorts in the playing field. then, the cold war happened (to sum it up, america and russia were not very happy with each other). when the cold war came about, things like the space race showed up too (first to go to space, first to land on the moon, etc). there were so many goals that each nation was working towards to make itself better, to make itself known, and to make sure they were a force to reckon with. in order to do that, you had to have people that were willing to do that. more people wanted their country to become a superpower, or launch people into space, or have the best weapons. people wanted to be proud of their country. hopefully that helps you :D

Your view on the british after you witnessed the amristar massacre?
astraxan [27]

Amritsar is also called the JallianWala Bagh massacre. it is one of the most gruesome killing if the common civilians who assembled and were on peaceful strike in Amritsar.

Explanation:

Though Indians supported the British in their wars against Germany and Ottoman empire, The British Raj lacked trust on some of the radical Indians who understood the real purpose of the Britishers to occupy India. Gradually British decided to repress Indians by passing Rowlatt act which authorized the Britishers to imprison the revolutionaries just based on suspicion and the press were also not given the rights and freedom of speech and expression. General Dyer also restricted any association of more than four members in the public places in Amritsar.

But more than twenty thousand civilians assembled in the public park called JallianWala Bagh. General dyer ordered the cease fire and more than four hundred people were killed. This made the Indians to lose hope on the British Government and from thereon the nationalism spirit of Indians rose to such an extent that Independence was indispensable for Indians.
