Answer:

A

Explanation:

A simile compares two things using the words "like" or "as".

A: Monty dashed around the backyard like a wild hog rooting for food.

This compared Monty to a wild hog using the word like.

B: My cat has trained my dad to follow its every command.

No comparison, and no like or as.

C: This kitchen was torn apart when my brother decided to cook dinner.

This has no comparison, and no like or as.

D: Ocean waves lifted the fragile boat, and set it gently on shore.

This sentence also has no comparison, and no like or as.

A is the only choice that had a comparison, and it used the word like. Therefore, it is the example of a simile.

Answer:

I believe the answer is A.

Explanation:

A simile usually uses the words like or as when comparing two unlike things. The like in the sentence is an comparison . Its comparing Monty to a wild dog. To help you further here is an example:

<u>"Life is like a box of chocolate"</u> this is a simile

<u>"My life is an open book"</u> this is a metaphor. (Not comparing his life to a book, its<em> using other words to express</em> he has nothing to hide or his life is no secret)

The reason I used these two examples is because I wanted to get the point across of why those two are different and they can be easily mistaken as each other.

Hope this helped :)
