The changes in the population of a species in a stable ecosystem has diverse effects on the ecosystem on the whole.

The reduction in the baleen whale population will cause a rapid increase on the prey organisms on which the baleen whale fed. This is because the number of predators for these preys will decrease.

On the other hand, the number of organisms which fed on the baleen whale will decrease as they will have lesser amounts of food available.
