Mauryn wrote the following word problem to represent a linear function. Sandwiches at King Sandwich cost the same amount and inc

lude bread, meat, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. All other vegetables are extra. Sam bought a chicken sandwich with 3 extra vegetables for $5.25. Erin bought a roast beef sandwich with 5 extra vegetables for $6.25. Which represents the y-intercept for Mauryn’s word problem? A (0, 0.50) B (0, 1.00) C (0, 1.50) D (0, 3.75)

Answer:

correct option is D (0, 3.75)

Step-by-step explanation:

given data

3 extra vegetables = $5.25

5 extra vegetables = $6.25

solution

we consider here price of sandwich is = y

and number of extra vegetable is = x

when we see on graph for 3 extra vegetable for $5.25 it is as passes through the point (3, 5.25)

and for 5 extra vegetable for $6.25 than it is as passes through the point (5,6.25)

so these equation will be when line passes through two points is

y - y1 =  \frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1}(x - x1)    .............1

wee take here point (3,5.25) and (5,6.25)

so that here equation of line will be as

y - 5.25 = \frac{6.25-5.25}{5-3}(x-3)

simply it we get

y = 0.5 x + 3.75

now we put here x = 0 to get y intersection

y = 0.5(0) + 3.75

y = 3.75

so

y intercept for is (0,3.75).

so correct option is D (0, 3.75)

On a number line, suppose point E has a coordinate of 1, and EG =4
aliya0001 [1]

The possible coordinates of the point G on the number line as described in the task content are; 5 or -3.

<h3>What are the possible coordinates of point G?</h3>

It follows from the task content that the distance between points E and G as given by EG = 4.

Since, the point E has a coordinate of 1, it follows the point G is 4 units less or greater than 1 on the number line.

Ultimately, the possible coordinates of point G are; 1 - 4 = -3 and 1+4 = 5.

I have no clue how to solve this and it’s really stressing me out! Can anyone help?
marin [14]

Answer:

302.02 units²

Step-by-step explanation:

To do this, we can first solve for the height of the trapezoid. We can do this using sin:

sin 70= \frac{x}{14}

14· sin 70≈13.16

Now, we can solve for the base of the small triangle on the right by:

cos 70= \frac{x}{14}

14 · cos 70 ≈4.79

Now, find the area of the triangle using V= \frac{1}{2} bh:

V= (4.79)(13.16)/2≈30.86

Now, we can find the area of the rectangle in the middle by:

15· 13.16 (the height)= 197.4

Now, we need to solve for the triangle on the left. We will need to first find the base by subtracting the bases of the other figures from 31:

31-4.79-15= 11.21

Now, find the area of the triangle:

V=(11.21)(13.16)/2= 73.76

Add all of the areas, giving you:

73.76+30.86+197.4= 302.02 units²
