Answer:

Independence or self-rule for many territories

Explanation:

The Ottoman Empire was a multi-ethnic political system dominated by Turkish rulers and Turkish culture. The rise of nationalism in the western part of the Ottoman Empire eventually caused the fall of the Ottoman Turkish rule. Since the beginning of the 19th century, nationalism rose in different parts of the Ottoman Empire, which challenged the Turkish rule of the Empire. One of the first territories in doing so was Greece, that got its independence in 1822. Many other ethnic groups would organize themselves throughout nationalist movements in the following century. This ended up in the Balkans conflicts that preceded the WWI and the rise of the Turkish nationalism through the Young Turks, which sought the creation of a Turkish State in replacement of the Ottoman Empire.
