Short Answer: 1
Remark
You could do this by comparing volumes through a proportion and that is likely the quickest way to get an answer. But it is also difficult to understand so I will do this by comparing volumes.

Step one
Find the volume of the small cone
Givens
r = 1 foot
h = 2 feet
pi = 3.14

Formula
V = 1/3 pi r^2 h

Sub and solve
V = 1/3 3.14 1^2 * 2
V = 2.09333

Step Two
Find the volume of the Large Cone
Givens
r = d/2  =  2/2 = 1 foot
h = 2 feet.

We can stop right here. The cones are exactly the same volume.

Moonshine Problem: How many gallons of 20% moonshine and how many gallons of 30% moonshine have to be mixed together to make 100
Sindrei [870]

Answer:

50 gallons 20%

50 gallons 30%

Step-by-step explanation:

If x is gallons of 20% moonshine, and y is gallons of 30% moonshine, then:

x + y = 100

0.20x + 0.30y = 0.25(100)

Solve the system of equations using substitution or elimination.  Using substitution:

0.20x + 0.30(100 − x) = 0.25(100)

0.20x + 30 − 0.30x = 25

5 = 0.10x

x = 50

y = 50

Solve the following inequality using both the graphical and algebraic approach: .5x+3 > 2x -1.5
serious [3.7K]

.5x+3 is bigger then 2x-1.5 because .5+3 is 3.5, and 2-1.5 is 1.5. it doesn't matter what x is, because it'll be the same for both 5 and 2. so just ignore x. hope this helps
