For the following sequence, determine if it is an arithmeticsequence, a geometric sequence, or neither. If it is either arith
uysha [10]

Answer: An arithmetic sequence is of the form:

aₙ = a₀ + (n -1)*d

So the difference between a term and the nextone is always the same, and in our case the numbers are 5,8,13,21,34,55.

The distance between the numbers is not constant, so this is not a arithmetic sequence.

a geometric sequence is of the form: aₙ = a*rⁿ

So the therms grow exponentially.

here a₀ = a*r⁰ = a = 5.

a₁ = a*r¹ = 5*r = 13, then r = 13/5 = 2.6

a₂ = a*r² = 5*2.6*2.6 = 33.8, so here we can see that this is not our series, so our series isn't geometric.

So the answer for the first part is neither.

Now, the sequence is  5,8,13,21,34,55, ...

you can see that

5 + 8 = 13

13 + 8 = 21,

21 + 34 = 55

So our sequence is of the form: aₙ = aₙ₋₁ + aₙ₋₂.

then, the next term will be: 55 + 21= 76.

How to solve 5/6y + 1 = -1/2y + 1/4
True [87]

Answer:

y= -1/4

y= -0.25

Step-by-step explanation:

5/6y+1= -1/2y+1/4

<em>Subtract 1 from both sides</em>

5/6y= -1/2y-3/4

<em>Add 1/2y to both sides</em>

1 1/3y= -3/4

<em>Divide both sides by 1/3</em>

y= -1/4

y= -0.25

Which of the following would be an acceptable first step in simplifying the expression sinx/1-sinx
Paha777 [63]
\bf \textit{difference of squares}&#10;\\\\&#10;(a-b)(a+b) = a^2-b^2\qquad \qquad &#10;a^2-b^2 = (a-b)(a+b)&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\textit{also recall that }sin^2(\theta)+cos^2(\theta)=1\implies cos^2(\theta)=1-sin^2(\theta)\\\\&#10;-------------------------------

\bf \cfrac{sin(x)}{1-sin(x)}\implies \cfrac{sin(x)}{1-sin(x)}\cdot \cfrac{1+sin(x)}{1+sin(x)}\implies \stackrel{first~step}{\cfrac{sin(x)[1+sin(x)]}{[1-sin(x)][1+sin(x)]}}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\cfrac{sin(x)[1+sin(x)]}{1^2-sin^2(x)}\implies \cfrac{sin(x)[1+sin(x)]}{cos^2(x)}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\cfrac{sin(x)+sin^2(x)}{cos^2(x)}\implies \cfrac{sin(x)}{cos^2(x)}+ \cfrac{sin^2(x)}{cos^2(x)}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\cfrac{sin(x)}{cos(x)}\cdot \cfrac{1}{cos(x)}+\cfrac{sin^2(x)}{cos^2(x)}\implies tan(x)sec(x)+tan^2(x)&#10;\\\\\\&#10;tan(x)[sec(x)+tan(x)]
