Answer:

Differentiation occurs numerous times during the development of a multicellular organism as it changes from a simple zygote to a complex system of tissues and cell types

Answer: Cell differentiation is how generic embryonic cells become specialized cells. This occurs through a process called gene expression. Gene expression is the specific combination of genes that are turned on or off (expressed or repressed), and this is what dictates how a cell functions

Which metabolic pathway is correctly paired with an example?
Serggg [28]
I think the correct answer from the choices listed above is option B. The metabolic pathway that is correctly paired with an example would be anabolism -photosynthesis and protein. Anabolism is the process where the body utilizes the energy released by catabolism. Hope this answers the question.

Hmg-coa reductase is a highly regulated enzyme. identify three distinct mechanisms by which this enzyme is regulated. for each,
Rufina [12.5K]
Regulation of HMG-CoA reductase is termed as the rate of controlling enzyme of the mevalonate pathway which produces other isoprenoid and cholesterol.
The regulation of cholesterol is done by regulating the rate which determines step catalyzed by HGM -CoA reductase.
There is long-term and short-term regulation where HGM-CoA is inhibited by phosphorylation and catalyzed of proteins. There is regulated proteolysis of HGM-CoA reductase where degradation of HMG-CoA reductase by oxidized derivatives of cholesterol.

Explain the impact of invasive alien plants on water availability
vfiekz [6]
We review the current state of knowledge of quantified impacts of invasive alien plants on water quality, with a focus on South Africa. In South Africa, over 200 introduced plant species are regarded as invasive. Many of these species are particularly prominent in riparian ecosystems and their spread results in native species loss, increased biomass and fire intensity
and consequent erosion, as well as decreased river flows. Research on the impact of invasive alien plants on water resources has historically focused on water quantity. However, although invasive alien plants also affect the quality of water, this aspect has not been well documented. Alien invasive plants increase evaporation rates, and reduce stream flow and dilution
capacity. The biomass inputs of alien invasive plants, especially nitrogen fixers such as Acacia spp., alter nutrient cycles and can elevate nutrient concentrations in groundwater. Alien plant invasions alter the fire regimes in invaded areas by changing the size, distribution and plant chemistry of the biomass. More intense fires increase soil erosion and thereby decrease
water quality. In contrast to riparian invasions, aquatic invasive plants have been more extensively studied in South Africa and their impacts on water quality have been relatively well monitored. Water quality in South Africa is rapidly deteriorating, and all factors that influence this deterioration need to be taken into account when formulating actions to address the problem. The changes in water quality brought about by alien plant invasions can exacerbate the already serious water quality problems.

Where are phospholipids most likely found in a eukaryotic cell?.
kondor19780726 [428]

The cell membrane is composed by a lipidic bilayer. Phospholipids are most likely found in the membrane of a eukaryotic cell.

MEMBRANE COMPOSITION

The cell membrane is composed of

 • two lipidic bilayers,
 • cholesterol,
 • proteins, and
 • glucans incrusted in between.

The membrane is mostly composed of phospholipids.

PHOSPHOLIPIDS

Phospholipids are amphipathic molecules.

They have hydrophilic heads facing the exterior and the interior of the cells and hydrophobic tails that arrange against each other in the interlayer space.

Lipids can easily change places with other lipids by lateral diffusion in the same layer.

They can diffuse transversally to the other layer but not as easily as lateral diffusion.

There are also other lipidic movements as rotational diffusion that imply the rotation of the molecule.

Phospholipids are most likely found in the membrane of a eukaryotic cell.
