<h3><u>Question:</u></h3>

Walter is helping to make cookies for a basketball tournament. He's made 15 cookies so far. His coach asked him to make at least 20 cookies but no more than 55. Solve the inequality and interpret the solution.

<h3><u>Answer:</u></h3>

Walter needs to make at least 5 more cookies but no more than 40.

The inequality is 5 ≥ x ≥ 40

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Number of cookies walter cooked so far = 15

Assume that he needs to cook "x" more cookies, so total number of cookies he would cook will be (x + 15)

His coach asked him to make at least 20 cookies but no more than 55.

So we can represent the above sentence as:

20 ≤ Cookies to Cook ≤ 55

20 ≤ x + 15 ≤ 55

Subtracting 15, from both sides, we get:

5 ≤ x ≤ 40

So x can be less than or equal to 40 and x can be greater than or equal to 5

This means, x can be atleast 5 and atmost 40

Therefore Walter needs to make at least 5 more cookies but no more than 40.

Explain how to determine if you have a direct variation or proportional relationship
neonofarm [45]

Answer:

straight line that passes through the origin

Step-by-step explanation:

Two variables are said to have a direct variation or proportional relationship if it can be represented by y = kx, where k is a constant.

Comparing this with the equation of a straight line y = mx + b, where m is the slope of the line and b is the y intercept (value of y when x = 0), We can tell if the say that the graph of a direct variation or proportional relationship is a straight line with no y intercept (b = 0, that is it passes through the origin).
