Mathematics

Answer:

x < 7

Step-by-step explanation:

4x - 6 > 6x - 20

Add 6 to both sides.

4x - 6(+6) > 6x -20(+6)

Simplify.

4x > 6x - 14

Subtract 6x from both sides.

4x(-6x) > 6x(-6x) - 14

Simplify.

-2x > -14

Multiply both sides by -1 (reverse the inequality).

(-2x)(-1) < (-14)(-1)

Simplify.

2x < 14

Divide both sides by 2.

2x/2 < 14/2

Simplify.

x < 7

The graphs below have the same shape.what is the equation of the red graph?
Setler [38]

Answer:

G(x)=4-x^{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

Notice that the red graph is the blue graph shifted 1 units up.

According to the function transformation rules, we add k to the output of the function to shift its graph k units up, and we subtract k to the output of the function to shift its graph k units down.

The output of our function is 3-x^{4}, and since we want to shift 1 units up, k=1. In other words, we just need to add 1 to the output of the function:

G(X)=3-x^{4} +1

G(x)=3+1-x^{4}

G(x)=4-x^{4}

We can conclude that the equation of the red graph is G(x)=4-x^{4}.

Calculate the total surface area of 20cm long 10 cm wide and 5 cm high box
stiv31 [10]

Answer:

Given

Edge of a cube = 10cm

Length, l = 12.5 cm

Breadth, b = 10cm

Height, h = 8 cm

Find out

We have to find

i) Which box has the greater lateral surface area and by how much?

ii) Which box has the smaller total surface area and by how much?

Solution

(i)

Lateral surface area of a cube = 4 * (edge)2

= 4 * 102 cm2

= 400 cm2

Lateral surface area of a cuboid = 2 (lh + bh)

= 2 (12.5 * 8 + 10 * 8) cm2

= 2 (100 + 80) cm2

= 360 cm2

So, the lateral surface area of the cubical box is greater than cuboidal box by (400 cm2 – 360 cm2) which is 40 cm2.

(ii)

Total surface area of a cube = 6 * (edge)2

= 6 * 102 cm2

= 600 cm2

Total surface area of cuboid = 2 (lb + bh + lh)

= 2 (12.5 * 10 + 10 * 8 + 12.5 * 8) cm2

= 2 (125 + 80 + 100) cm2

= 610 cm2

Therefore, the total surface area of the cuboidal box is greater than the cubical box by (610 cm2 – 600 cm2) which is 10 cm2.
