Pros: 
Enhances flavour in foods 
A good disinfectant for cuts (when diluted with water) 
Removes red wine stains :) 
Used to soften hard water 
Makes an excellent mouthwash 

Cons: 
Excess use may lead to high blood pressure, kidney problems, heart disease & strokes
