If a semicircle is rotated about the y-axis or the axis of its diameter, the three dimensional shape produced is a sphere. A sphere is a shape in three dimension that look like a ball and when drawn in two dimension it looks like a circle. The distance from any point on the sphere to its center is always the same. A sphere has only one surface without any edges or vertices, therefore it is perfectly symmetrical.
