When cell volume increases to an extent where the cell’s survival condition becomes non-favorable, the cell undergoes “division” to form “smaller cells” that have favorable surface area or volume.

Further Explanation:

In a cell, the movement of molecules takes place into and out of the cell with the help of the plasma membrane. The waste products are excreted out of the cell while the food material and gases are absorbed by the cell with water. The regions of the cell surface serve the internal region of the cell. The internal volume of the cell increases as the cell grows in size. This also results in the expansion of the cell membrane.

It is noted that the rate of increase in cell volume is higher than that of the surface area. Therefore, the amount of surface area for the transport of materials into the cell decreases comparatively with the increasing volume as the cell now requires more food to survive. The decreased surface area can not meet the growing needs of the enlarged cell. Therefore, the cell needs to stop further growth for survival.

As the cell becomes larger, the ratio of surface area to volume goes down. When the cell enlarges far away to a certain limit, the passage of molecules across the membrane cannot match to accommodate the increasing volume. In such a case, the cell divides. Several small cells are formed when the cell divides, each cell having a favorable ratio of surface area to volume to function properly.

Which term describes the chromosomal abnormality of having three copies of a single chromosome? haploidy diploidy triploidy tetr
kolbaska11 [484]
Trisomy is the answer. A trisomy is a chromosome abnormality in which a person has three copies of a particular chromosome rather than the expected two. Trisomies can have varying effects on a person's health depending on which chromosome is affected by the trisomy. Some trisomies such as trisomy x have only mild effects whereas others such as trisomy 21 also known as Down syndrome result in health problems and development delays. Many Trisomies can have fatal consequences such as trisomy 16 or trisomy 18 .They frequently cause miscarriages or loss of the baby shortly after birth.
