Well if the rest of the equation looks like this
{4a+6b=10, 2a-4b=12}

Solve for 'a' in equation 2

2a-4b=12
2a=12+4b
a=6+2b

Substitute (6+2b) for 'a' in equation 10

4a+6b=10
4(6+2b)+6b=10
24+8b+6b=10
24+14b=10
14b=-14
b=-1

Substitute (-1) for 'b' in equation 2

2a-4b=12
2a-4(-1)=12
2a+4=12
2a=8
a=4

{a=4, b=-1}

--> 12a=48

rosijanka [135]

Answer:

see the explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

L ---> the length of rectangle in cm

W ---> the width of rectangle in cm

The area of rectangle is

A=LW

A=991\ cm^2

so

991=LW ---> equation A

we know that

<u><em>Prime numbers</em></u> only have factors of 1 and themselves.

So a rectangle with an area of 991 cm² can only be either

W=1\ cm, L=991\ cm  or  L=1\ cm, W=991\ cm

a_sh-v [17]

Answer:

1) 80 people  2) 15 weeks

Step-by-step explanation:

(x = the number of people)

500 + 8x = 1140  ← ($500 initially plus $8 per person equals $1140)

8x = 640 ←(subtract the $500 from each side)

x = 80 ←(divide by the $8 per person to get the number of people)

------

(x = the number of weeks)

242 = 62 + 12x  ←(The cost of the snake ($242) is equal to her $62 plus $12 she saves every week)

180 = 12x  ←(subtract the $62 from both sides)

15 = x  ←(divide by the $12 per week)
